2019 Trends at The Wedding Harvest
Though winter may be here, you’d never have guessed it at The Wedding Harvest, held at The Lushington in Brisbane on Friday 24th May 2019. The night was clear, the venue was cosy and the air was full of chatter between vendors and couples - it had such a warm and inviting atmosphere that I didn’t want to leave!
I have been largely MIA from the wedding scene for the past 12 months while I completed my Diploma of Event Management, so this was the perfect reintroduction to the sunshine state’s finest vendors and it was fabulous to see some familiar faces and to make some new friends too!
If I had to name an overall theme of the night, I would say modern romance, with a splash of moody mystique.. There were stunning dresses, decor, cakes, flowers and personal touches galore and I’m sure that every couple would have left with oodles of wedding planning inspiration.
I must also mention that The Lushington, one of Brisbane’s newest venues, was totally gorgeous. It’s a lovely blank canvas, so couples can easily add their own style and flair AND it has a cute courtyard out the back where you can look at the stars and city lights (oh, and eat pizza - more on that later). I was super impressed with all the possibilities of this location.
Without further ado, I will share some 2019 wedding trends seen at this event, to hopefully give you some rad ideas for your own celebration…
The florals at this event were out-of-this-world beautiful. I especially LOVED the whimsical, yet modern, installations created by Garden Graffiti, like the stunner shown above and the alleyway masterpiece (pictured further down this page). As you can see from the photos, the arrangements were eye-catching and really added to the romance-meets-modern-style atmosphere. I also really like the idea of adorning your ceremony arch with gorgeous blooms (as seen on Gloriosa Florals’ display) to really make those ‘I do’ pictures pop!
I am SO on board with the fact that wedding trends are leaning more and more towards ‘your day - your way’. Do you and your partner love to enjoy a fancy beverage (from a pretty darn adorable caravan bar)? Look no further than this little beauty, Olive ‘The Typsy Gypsy’! Would your weekend wedding simply not be the same without indulging in some mouth-watering pizza? There’s a solution to that (and your entree/dessert needs) from Pizzantica!
[Side note: Mike from Pizzantica is basically a hero without a cape - he not only drives from coast to coast to feed hungry pizza fans, he is also oh-so lovely and swooped in to save me from a sticky situation where I may or may not have dropped my husband’s piece of prized pepperoni pizza face-down onto the ground, thus risking seven years of marriage… Thanks, Mike!! Stumped on take-home gifts for your guests? How about gorgeously-wrapped chocolate boxes (where you get to choose the flavour and personalisation) from Little Cocoa! Both delicious AND instagram-worthy = win.
My eyes instantly morphed into love hearts (a la my favourite emoji 😍) when I walked over to the Main Event Weddings display. They had three examples of reception table settings laid out and I was equally obsessed with each of them. From lush greenery placed in unique vases paired with deep navy linens to opulent floral centrepieces with textural blush accents, the elegant reception-inspo was plentiful. Make it ‘yours’ by personalising menus, weaving in your colours/theme and hey, why not consider some metallic cutlery too?!
The Wedding Harvest definitely brought its A-game when it came to exquisite decor. From the alleyway that was adorned with twinkly lights and another snazzy installation from Garden Graffiti, to a gigantic fun balloon piece draping the outside staircase, to simple but endearing candle-lit florals wrapped around wooden poles, there were new decorating ideas around every corner!
Chic Cakes (and Delish Doughnuts)
Some would argue that one of the best parts about visiting a wedding fair is that you can taste wedding cake. I am definitely one of those people and Confetti Cake Co certainly did not disappoint. My favourite cake of the night was the sleek black number above - what a showstopper! But there was definitely something for everyone - dazzling doughnut walls, artistic tiered masterpieces and even a cake especially for doughnut-lovers (the best of both worlds perhaps)…
Sadly, my nighttime photography skills need a bit of work, but I definitely enjoyed watching the outdoor bridal fashion parade! The dress below gets my personal vote - stunning neckline, delicate lace and intricate design - check, check and check.
I hope you have enjoyed this little trend review as much as I enjoyed meeting fabulous vendors and devouring Pizzantica slices at The Wedding Harvest .
Let me know in the comments if you will be incorporating any of the above trends, or some of your own unique ideas into your wedding day - I’d love to hear what you’re planning! Abby xx
